Panama Takes Its Place in Sotheby’s
International Realty’s Global Conversation

Just days after introducing our new identity, Panama Sotheby’s International Realty joined 2,700 members of the international network in San Francisco for the 2026 Global Networking Event. It was our first international gathering as part of the brand and a chance to introduce our team and the market we represent to colleagues worldwide.

Held from October 6 to 8 at Moscone Center West, the event coincided with Sotheby’s International Realty’s 50th anniversary. Its theme, “Fifty Years Forward,” celebrated the brand’s history while offering a practical look at the relationships, knowledge, and tools that will shape its future.

For Panama, the significance was immediate: an opportunity to bring our local experience into a wider conversation about where people want to live, how they choose properties and whom they trust to guide them.

The relationships behind a global network

The Global Networking Event, known as GNE, is the brand’s signature gathering for agents, managers and brokerage owners. It gives colleagues from different markets a place to meet, exchange experience and develop the connections that support international referrals.

Those relationships are especially relevant when a property search crosses borders. A client considering Panama may begin by speaking with an adviser in their home country. Knowing our team personally gives that adviser a direct connection to professionals who understand the local market and can help the client take the next step.

For a property owner in Panama, the same relationships can create opportunities to reach buyers through colleagues abroad. Their value comes from understanding what those buyers are looking for and knowing when a particular property may be a suitable match.

Introducing Panama Sotheby’s International Realty to the network was therefore a central focus of the week. It allowed us to share our experience, explain the market we serve, and begin conversations that can continue well beyond the event.

Understanding the decisions behind a property search

Market trends and economic perspectives were among the areas our team focused on during the gathering. Conversations with colleagues in other countries provide context for the decisions international clients bring to Panama.

Someone considering a primary residence may be weighing a move against family needs and professional commitments. A second-home buyer may be comparing locations based on lifestyle, accessibility and how often they expect to use the property. Understanding those priorities helps make the search more focused from the beginning.

The event’s program also explored changing expectations among luxury consumers and the role of data, discretion and personal service in advising them.

For our team, the value lies in bringing those perspectives back to the individual client. International insight adds context; local knowledge helps determine what makes sense for a particular home, neighborhood and set of priorities.

New tools, with the client in mind

Artificial intelligence and marketing were prominent subjects in the official program. Sessions explored practical uses of automation and digital workflows, alongside approaches to video, social media and the brand’s research and marketing resources.

These subjects have a direct connection to everyday service. Better processes can give advisers more time for client conversations. Clearer property information can help buyers assess their options. Thoughtful marketing can communicate the qualities of a home to the audiences most likely to appreciate them.

The program also examined new residential developments and how advisers work within that segment, a relevant topic for a team representing both established homes and projects taking shape in Panama.

The next step is to evaluate these ideas against our clients’ needs and apply the tools that improve the way we work. Accuracy, local understanding and personal attention remain central to that process.

Fifty years forward, with Panama part of the conversation

The anniversary gave this year’s gathering particular meaning. For Panama Sotheby’s International Realty, it also came at the beginning of our own chapter within the network.

Our local experience formed the basis of the conversations we brought to San Francisco. The relationships developed there give us new opportunities to share that knowledge, collaborate across markets, and connect clients with the right people.

The work continues through follow-up conversations, relevant introductions, and the application of what we learned. That is how participation in a global event can become something useful for a buyer planning a move or an owner preparing to bring a property to market.
